Busy Labour Day Weekend In Sarnia Lambton

Ribfest returns to Hiawatha Horse Park this weekend. Doors open Friday at 4pm, Saturday from 11am-11pm and Sunday from 11am-7pm. There is no entry fee to the for-profit event staged by Northern Heat Rib Series which also hosts similar ribfests in 14 other Ontario centres. Cash and donations of non perishable food items for the Inn of the Good Shepherd will be accepted at the gates. Seven local bands will perform over the three day event that will also offer a carnival and kids zone, as well as a dunk tank with politicians, police officers and firefighters participating. The Festival of Good Things begins Friday in Sarnia's Canatara Park. A wide variety of Canadian musicians will be featured and there will be activities for the children and a vendor's market. Country themed Eric Ethridge, Kelsi Mayne and the Drew Taylor Band perform Friday night. The festival becomes a ticketed event with a beer tent at 6pm. The popular 5k "Run of Exploding Colour" is set for Saturday morning.

The Lambton County Ploughing Match is on this weekend. It's being held at the McLaughlin Farm at 7273 Courtright Line in Brooke Alvinston Saturday. Antique and modern tractors as well as horse drawn ploughs will be competing. And Sarnia's annual Labour Day Parade begins at 9:30 Monday morning in downtown Sarnia
