The former River City Vineyard on Mitton St. will open its homeless shelter under a new name November 6.
Pastoral Leader George Esser says they've now installed a new alarm system and are waiting for the installation of heavy duty lockers.
"We plan on having 12 beds and we will offer a second program as well," he says. "We want to help people get into permanent housing and have already helped people do so."
He hopes to have two full time paid positions with eight volunteers helping out and welcomes both cash donations and anyone interested in volunteering.
The new name of the shelter will be the River City Sanctuary.
In July of 2015, the Ontario Court of Appeal overturned a previous court ruling regarding the city's zoning of the property, clearing the way for it to reopen
