The recent heavy rains came too late for some area corn crops.
Lambton Grains Committee Chair Kevin Marriott says it would have been more welcome in July.
"Corn sets it's yield potential when it's pollinating in July and that's when it was extremely hot and dry," he says. "The recent moisture, although it helped, will not combat the bad pollination. The rain will help the soybeans more than the corn."
Marriott predicts both the corn and soybeans will be harvested earlier this year and normal.
Wheat crops this year had record yields, as high as 30 bushels per acre.
