College To Launch Online Palliative Care Program

Lambton College is launching an online palliative care program this fall.

The part-time course focuses on relieving suffering and improving quality of life for those who are suffering from a life-limiting illness.

Dean of Online and Continuing Education Rick Overeem says students will explore topics like coping with death, dying and grief, and ethical, legal and spiritual concerns.

Overeem says the course is especially important given Sarnia-Lambton's aging population.

"With age often comes illness, so we really wanted to assist families and volunteers and those already in health care with some extra knowledge on how to care for people who are in this kind of state." says Overeem.

The program adds to the college's 50 part-time programs and over 800 courses.
