Another heat warning has been issued for much of southern Ontario including Sarnia-Lambton.
Environment Canada says hot and humid conditions will take hold Thursday and continue through the weekend.
The national weather agency issues heat warnings when very high temperatures or humidity are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illness, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
Temperatures in Sarnia are forecast to reach 33 C (91 F) by Friday with humidex values nearing 40 C (104 F).
Environment Canada says symptoms of heat illness include:
- dizziness or fainting, nausea or vomiting
- headache
- rapid breathing and heartbeat
- extreme thirst
- decreased urination with unusually dark yellow urine
Drink plenty of liquids especially water before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration. Thirst is not a good indicator of dehydration.
Frequently visit neighbours, friends and older family members, especially those who are chronically ill, to make sure that they are cool and hydrated.
Never leave people or pets in your care inside a parked vehicle or in direct sunlight.
During heat warnings, Lambton Public Health has Cooling Centres set up across the county. You can find a list here.
