Farmers are calling it liquid gold.
Thunderstorms Thursday night and early Friday brought badly needed rain to parched crops in Lambton County.
Over half an inch, about 15 mm, fell in the Sarnia, Watford, Thedford and Forest areas.
Rain gauges in the Petrolia area recorded anywhere from half-an-inch to a full inch (25 mm) while both Dawn-Euphemia and Enniskillen township farmers reported up to an inch-and-a-half.
Lambton Federation of Agriculture Grains Committee Chair Kevin Marriott says it couldn't have come at a better time. He expressed concerns Thursday that corn and soybean crops would be in jeopardy if it didn't rain within the next few days.
