Lambton County has set up a temporary distribution centre at Bayside Mall downtown to avoid delays in the event of a postal strike.
Ontario Works recipients who normally receive payments by mail can pick up their July cheques Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30am to 4:30pm in training room 2/3on the second floor of the Lambton Shared Services Centre.
Identification is required. The county says direct bank deposit cheque statements will not be distributed at this time and drug benefits have been extended so that June coverage will be valid into July until new cards can be issued at a later date.
The Canadian Union of Postal Workers will be in a legal strike position Saturday July 2.
