Police Urge Residents To Lock Up

A rash of break-ins has Sarnia police again appealing to residents to do their part to reduce thefts of opportunity.

Constable John Sottosanti says last Friday alone, officers were called to several thefts and break-and-enters in the Twin Lakes area.

"In all these incidents either a window had been left open or a doors unlocked, purses and other items were left in the open and by the entry point," says Sottosanti. "Individuals were at home, they were either in bed or watching t.v. in another room."

Sottosanti says police often notice a spike in mischief, thefts and break-and-enters during the summer months.

He urges residents to make sure their homes are properly secured and well lit at all times, and report any suspicious activity to Sarnia police or Crime Stoppers.
