One of Lambton County's smallest municipalities has made a donation to the Fort McMurray relief effort. Brooke-Alvinston Mayor Don McGugan says council voted in favour of contributing $2,500 to the Red Cross. "We're like the City of Sarnia, we received extra money dividends from Bluewater Power, so that $2,500 will come out of that. It will not affect the taxbase," he says. "So we're really pleased we're able to do something small, every little bit helps." The Sarnia Police Association and the Village of Point Edward have each donated $5,000 to Red Cross relief efforts. Sarnia City Council tabled Mayor Mike Bradley's request Monday to donate $25,000 from an unexpected Bluewater Power dividend of $288,000.
Council would like to wait and see what Lambton County Council does first.
