Sarnia police are continuing to look for ways to limit vandalism in the city in response to recent incidents that sparked outrage in the community.
A spray-painting spree in March targeted the F-86 Golden Hawk Memorial at Germain Park and monuments along the Pt. Edward waterfront.
Deputy Chief Bob Farlow says they've been talking with the Parks and Recreation Department about possible solutions.
"Beth Gignac and her staff have some great ideas, we've met with them a couple of times, in office and out in the field," says Farlow. "One of my officers met with her and went through Canatara Park, they were there for three hours going through CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) and they've got some great ideas."
He says CPTED can be as simple as adding more lighting or cameras.
Farlow recalls issues at Rainbow Park on Christina St. S. and says simply trimming the shrubbery to give police a better visual of the park, helped.
Police will report back to Sarnia City Council later this spring.
