87th Annual Lambton County Music Festival

The Lambton County Music Festival has been around for almost 90 years.

Local sings, choirs, bands and musicians will be under the spotlight for two weeks at five different venues across Sarnia. It's the longest-running independently operated festival in Canada.

Festival president David Nichols says the music helps the students create friendships, "It's a real variety of primarily students that are listening to other students perform and making friendships through music and developing their own musical skills."

Performances this year will take place at Dunlop United church, St. Giles Presbyterian Church, St. Patrick's High School and the Sarnia Library Theatre.

"We've got close to 500 entries which is terrific," says Nichols, who is very pleased about the number of people ready to sing their heart out.

All performers will compete for money and prizes and trophies. The winners will perform at the SCITS auditorium for the Festival Highlights Concert on May 17th.

Last year, the festival was named to the Sarnia Mayor's Honour List.
