Filling Empty Bowls To End Hunger

Lambton College is holding the 'Empty Bowls' event to end hunger tonight.

More than 400 bowls have been made by students, staff in the campus pottery studio.

"Back in February, we had a day that we call the 'Celebrity Bowl-a-Thon' and we invited local celebrities to come and try their hand at bowl-making", says Ceramics professor Beth Turnbull Morrish.

She says members of local media, students from the college, and officials with the police and fire department were dipping their hands into the clay.

"These won't be the bowls that people will receive for the $25 to take home with their soup."

Turnbull Morrish is also encouraging people to donate money to buy these celebrities bowls.

There are tickets still available for the $25 dinner which includes soup scooped in the homemade pottery bowls.

Last year, the event raised $10,000. In total, $70,000 has been raised for the Inn of the Good Shepherd and Lambton College's campus food bank.

The dinners are at 5pm and 7pm at Lambton College.
