Proposals for naming rights to the Sarnia Sports and Entertainment Centre could soon close.
City councillors Brian White and Matt Mitro are tabling a motion suggesting that city staff stop accepting proposals after Monday's meeting.
Mayor Mike Bradley doesn't feel that's fair to others who may want to submit proposals.
"Two groups have come forward so far, they need to know there's some finality to this process," says Bradley. "To simply close it off at this stage, when the public wasn't aware there were proposals being reviewed until just a day ago, would be grossly unfair to anyone else that wants to come forward."
Bradley also says council needs to have a pure process that eliminates any doubt about favouritism.
Only two proposals have been submitted so far, which are under confidential review and will be brought to council May 9.
