Streamlining Mental Health Services

There are ongoing efforts to streamline mental health supports in Lambton and Kent counties.

Bluewater Health has partnered with the Lambton-Kent Mental Health Association and Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in an effort to strengthen resources for those in need.

Bluewater Health President and CEO Mike Lapaine says the hope is to put more of a focus on mental health services.

He says child and adolescent mental health is a big area of concern in Lambton.

"Mental health in an acute care hospital is often over shadowed by some of the bigger areas," says Lapaine. "We believe that having a dedicated vice president just for mental health issues will help give it both the profile and the focus it deserves."

Paula Reaume-Zimmer is taking on the lead role.

As VP of mental health and addiction services, she'll be responsible for program planning, resource management and quality control.
