The Sarnia Sting are set to host Sault Ste. Marie Tuesday night in the franchise's first game seven in nearly 16 years.
The Sting have only needed a game seven twice in franchise history. Losing to Kitchener in the 2nd round of the 1997 playoffs, and dropping a 4-3 decision in overtime against Windsor on April 6, 2000. That team was lead by future NHLer Mike Van Ryn and Jeff Heerema, along with notable alumi Alexander Buturlin, Dusty Jamieson and Eric Himelfarb.
Facing elimination Saturday and Sunday, Sarnia picked up a pair of convincing 5-1 wins over to force the deciding game seven.
Sting forward Pavel Zacha enters the game fourth in playoff scoring with 12 points. Matt Mistele leads the team in goals with six.
General Admission tickets for the game are already sold out.
You can hear the action live on CHOK with Leigh Cunningham and Patrick DesRochers.
