A Refugee Story

The Lambton Refugee Sponsors Network are holding an event Thursday morning to make people aware of the efforts being made to bring refugee families to Lambton County.

The Sponsor Network consists of six faith groups who have come together to help welcome refugee families into the community.

Of the 17 families the network has sponsored, four have already relocated to Lambton County.

Member Myles Vanni says you'll hear from some of the refugee families who are new to the area.

"These are folks that are coming from a very different culture in many cases have been living for a year or two in camps and its been a real struggle let alone what they had to flee," says Vanni. "This workshop is more of a public opportunity, because there's a lot of misconceptions about the whole issue of refugees."

It begins at 8:30am and goes until 1pm at the Lambton College Event Centre.
