Bluewater Foundation Gives $3M For Hospital Upgrades

Bluewater Health is pleased with a huge donation it has received from its corresponding foundation.

It was raised through the Bluewater Health Foundation, from community support and charity events including the annual Dream Home Lottery.

Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander says she's worked with other communities and commends the support from Sarnia-Lambton.

"I've never seen people come together like I have in Sarnia-Lambton," she says. "The hospital is one example where that generosity makes a difference, but there are so many community organizations in Sarnia-Lambton that truly are inexistent, but they're because of the generosity and support that people in our community do."

The funds are being put towards vital signs monitors, sleeper chairs, a washing machine and dryer for the Mental Health Department as well as an echo stretcher and renovations to the Maternal Infant Child Department.

Alexander says the foundation has some more plans in the future.

"There's some big ticket items from our diagnostic imaging department, CT scanners, X-Ray equipment," she says. "We're going to do our best to work with the community to generate the funds needed to buy those pieces of equipment."
