Revelree Music Festival Delayed To 2017

Sarnia's first ever Revelree music festival, originally planned for July 2016, will be delayed by a year due to the weak Canadian dollar.

It's expected the one-night ticketed event in Canatara Park, now planned for the summer of 2017, will bring in an attendance of 20,000 people.

Festival Director Scott Palko says the dollar is particularly unfortunate since they were looking primarily at U.S. acts.

"It's a large scale endeavour, it's a very risky, costly endeavour, a lot of resources have to go into it," he says. "So we have to do what's in the best interest of having this be an annual event, rather than put it on for a year and sort of the economic climate not allowing it to be something that can happen year-over-year."

Work continues to engage acts for 2017.

It's expected a lineup announcement will be made this fall.
