Studies to begin in May will either confirm or refute claims that giant wind turbines near Lake Huron are interfering with flight paths of bats and birds.
Suncor's Jason Vaillant says their Bird and Bat Monitoring Program at its Cedar Point Wind Energy Centre will last for six months.
"As part of our project approval with the province, we will be conducting bird and bat monitoring beginning in May," says Vaillant.
"This monitoring takes place at a minimum of 14 turbines and we select those in consultation with the Ministry of Natural Resources."
Data will be used to track mortality rates and if they are found to be high, they will work with the province to come up with a plan.
Suncor will also replant a woodland damaged during construction of the project when warmer weather arrives in the spring.
