Gladu Clarifies Her Take On Trump

Sarnia-Lambton's MP is clarifying remarks she made about Donald Trump, the controversial front-runner for the Republican nomination for U.S. president.

EmbassyNews.ca, billed as Canada's Foreign Policy Newspaper, quoted Marilyn Gladu as saying "the only bright light is that he has sort of restored freedom of speech to America."

Gladu tells BlackburnNews.com many people today feel they can't speak freely.

"Certainly that's what people are saying in our constituency, they're saying everyone is so politically correct these days, that anything you say you receive a lot of backlash for," says Gladu. "It's really not freedom of speech."

Gladu claims another online publication took her quotes from Embassy News and worded them to suggest she supports Trump.

She says although many find Trump's antics entertaining, she is concerned about his racial comments, his stated views on Mexico and border security and how they could impact Canada's relationship with its biggest trading partner.

Gladu says she considers much of what Trump says to be worrisome.
