Young Driver Clocked 65 km/h Over Limit

A 19-year-old Sarnia man is facing charges of racing a motor vehicle and having a dirty licence plate after being stopped by the OPP Monday afternoon on Lakeshore Rd. in Plympton-Wyoming.

Around 2:30pm, police say they clocked a vehicle travelling 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The officer conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver a ticket.

The man's drivers' licence was seized, and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

He'll appear in Sarnia court April 8.

The OPP are reminding motorists that driving 50 km/h per hour or more over the speed limit is one of the most serious and reckless forms of aggressive driving.
