Because of overwhelming success last summer, Greekfest organizers are asking Sarnia council for permission to stage the event in the downtown core again this year.
President Val Xanthopoulo says piggybacking on the International Powerboat Festival was a great idea.
"That was a really good collaboration and we were pleased," says Xanthopoulo.
"There was a different atmosphere and we thought we should continue this way for the foreseeable future."
Greekfest celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and was, for the first eight years, held at St. Demetrios Church but Mr. Xanthopoulo says they would like to hold it in downtown Sarnia for the next five years.
