Several Sites Vandalized In Point Edward (Gallery)

There is more disturbing evidence of blatant vandalism in the area, this time along the Point Edward waterfront. OPP are investigating after several waterfront benches, the First Nations Souls Memorial and a waterfront plaque were tagged with fluorescent pink paint. The plaque pays tribute to Robert Campbell for his heroism in rescuing crew members following the sinking of the freighter Sidney Smith in 1972. A couple of walls at the charity casino were also spray painted.

Police believe the incident occurred sometime overnight Saturday.

Damage to the casino is estimated at $1200 while the damage at the park has yet to be determined.

The OPP Forensic Identification Unit is assisting with the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Lambton OPP or Crime Stoppers. Last week it was discovered that the pedestal of the refurbished F-86 Sabre Golden Hawk monument at Germain Park had been vandalized. City police continue to investigate.
