Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Warning for southern Ontario including Sarnia-Lambton.
The national weather agency says hazardous winter conditions are expected. A deepening low pressure system will bring heavy snow and blowing snow to the region as it moves west to east along the lower Great Lakes. Meteorologist Etienne Gregoire says the snow will begin this afternoon and end before dawn Wednesday. He says Sarnia-Lambton will likely get 15 cm to 20 cm of snow (6-8 in) with winds picking up on the back end of the storm.
Strong northeasterly winds will also produce blowing snow especially in exposed areas due to gusts of 70 kilometres per hour. Driving conditions are expected to deteriorate through the day with the heaviest snow falling late this afternoon and tonight.
