Sarnia's superintendent of environmental services expects all of Centennial Park will be open to the public by Labour Day of this year.
Joe Boothe says an environmental study report on the final phase of park remediation is currently available online and at city hall.
The public can comment until March 11.
Boothe says plans call for installation of a vertical armour-stone wall from the existing sheet piling wall to a new boat launch between the fuel dock and Sarnia Bay Marina.
The current boat launch will not close until the new one is in place and a new walkway will be installed.
Because the wall will have to be closer to shore under the Environment Assessment process, plans for the park have had to change somewhat.
Partial demolition of the Dow People Place will begin in the next couple of weeks but it won't be completely torn down until the park redesign is done this summer.
The bathroom and concession area will be part of the redesign along with a new stage and tiered seating.
Boothe says the final $5.5-million price tag brings the entire project cost within the $8-million budget.
He says natural resources and St. Clair Region Conservation Authority approvals are needed before work can begin.
