Locally significant rainfall possible this weekend.

What:
Local rainfall amounts exceeding 50 mm.

When:
Today through early Sunday morning.

Additional information:
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop over southwestern Ontario in the morning before moving into the Greater Golden Horseshoe in the afternoon. Given the potential for slow-moving showers and thunderstorms and for some areas to receive multiple rounds of precipitation, local amounts exceeding 50 mm are possible.

Note that rainfall amounts will be highly variable across the region and not all areas will receive this much rain. There remains considerable uncertainty as to exactly which areas will receive the highest rainfall amounts.

Additional showers are expected through Sunday, especially to the east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

Water may pool on roads and in low-lying areas.

Don't drive through flooded roadways.

Avoid low-lying areas. Watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

A fishing trawler heading back to port in Sarnia became stuck in ice that has formed north of the Blue Water Bridge Wednesday afternoon.
 
With the help of a smaller vessel and several runs at the thick ice, the trawler manager to free itself.
