Doors Open Looking For Heritage Sites

Organizers of Doors Open Lambton County are looking for unique heritage sites to take part in this year's event.

Archivist at Lambton County Archives Dana Thorne says they hold the event every two years, which attracted over 13,000 visitors to the county in 2012 and 2014.

She says sites could include private residences, businesses or natural spaces that are rarely seen by the public.

"Anyone who owns a particularly interesting heritage site," says Thorne. "The kind of house where people might walk by everyday and wish they could get inside to take a look."

Thorne says its an opportunity for residents to discover the area's rich heritage.

Doors Open is scheduled for the weekend of June 11 and 12. The deadline to apply is March 18.

Applications can be sent to doorsopen@county-lambton.on.ca.
