Bulldogs Nip Sting 3-2

Former Sarnia Sting goalie Kaden Fulcher made 30 saves as the Hamilton Bulldogs downed the Sting 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night in Hamilton.

The Sting got off to a hot start with Jakob Chychrun scoring the opening goal on the powerplay. Travis Konecny and goalie Justin Fazio picked up the helpers.

The game remained 1-0 until the second period when the hometown Bulldogs broke the game open with three unanswered goals to make it a 3-1 game.

Adam Laishram scored twice including a powerplay marker and Trent Fox had the other goal. Former Knights defenceman Benjamin Gleason dished out two assists.

Patrick White brought the Sting to within one with a goal at the 6:53 minute mark of the third period. Devon Paliani notched an assist on the play for his first point in a Sting uniform while Anthony Salinitri also got a helper.

The Sting (22-12-5-1) has 50 points on the season, seven back of the West Division leading Windsor Spitfires with two games in hand.

The loss is Sarnia's first in regulation in the past 10 games.

Sarnia wraps up the weekend on Sunday in Oshawa after beating the Generals 4-1 Friday at the SSEC.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
