International students at Lambton College are helping raise money for Syrian refugees, while also celebrating multiculturalism on campus.
The Unity in Diversity Campaign for Syria asks students and staff to place a pin on a map of their hometown or heritage for a $2 donation.
Vice President of Student Success & Campus Services Rob Kardas says all funds raised will be split evenly between two local churches sponsoring families.
"Celebrate how cross-cultural, multicultural we are at this college with our international students and so on," says Kardas. "[Students] came together, they were very eager to do this when it was presented to them.
"I just think it's a great event for our college to be involved in."
Canadian government is matching all funds raised for Syrian refugees support dollar to dollar.
The finished map will later be framed and displayed on campus to celebrate Lambton College's multiculturalism and diversity.
