Numerous Collisions In Winter Weather

Lambton OPP are urging motorists to slow down, stay alert and stay in control after responding to a startling 12 motor vehicle collisions this past Sunday (January 10th).

With more snow now upon us, motorists must prepare themselves and their vehicles for safe winter driving.

Lambton OPP Constable Travis Parsons says during the winter months in particular, drivers must eliminate distractions and stay focused on the road.

He says defensive, responsible driving is crucial to reducing fatalities and serious injuries in motor vehicle collisions.

Drivers are asked to allow extra time for travelling, adjust driving to current road and weather conditions, and leave extra space between vehicles for stopping distances.

Damaged cars should be parked off to the side, rather in the middle of a roadway, with the driver sitting inside until rescuers arrive.
