Plympton-Wyoming Community Appreciation Awards

Plympton-Wyoming Mayor Lonny Napper is recognizing over 20 individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions to the community in 2015.

Recipients of the mayor's Community Appreciation Award will be honoured at a noon luncheon February 6, 2016 at the Camlachie Community Centre.

Everyone is welcome to attend. The cost is a donation to Lambton County 4H.

This year's honourees are:

  • Emm Gryner
Emm spent her childhood in Plympton-Wyoming before embarking on an illustrious musical

career including three Juno nominations and 10 albums while touring America and Europe

with the David Bowie Band. She recently teamed up with Chris Hadfield on the song Space

Oddesey. Certainly a career to be proud of.

  • Ron Clark Motors
In recognition of 50 years of service to Wyoming and Lambton County and their continuing

support of local charities is very much appreciated. A family business that we all should be

proud of.

  • Emma Whiting and Lauren Armstrong
For taking their ideas and hard work for Wyoming’s Got Talent and showcasing young talent

in the area and turning it into one of the main attractions as part of the Wyoming Fair.

  • Sister Colleen Young
In honour of her 50 years of service to the Sisters of Service – Canada and the Wyoming

community.

  • Lamrecton Camp- Board of Directors
In honour of their years of service operating Lamrecton Camp and their generous donation

of the camp to Plympton-Wyoming residence so we all can continue to enjoy for many years

to come.

  • Laura Nichols
Laura took it upon herself that for Decoration Day at the Wyoming Public Cemetery every

veteran would have a Canadian flag placed on their respective graves and they would never

been forgotten. We should all be grateful for her community service to our veterans.

  • Susan Jones
After the creation of a new park at Sunset Acres, Susan started Yoga in the park for all to

enjoy in such a serene environment. A great example of community involvement.

  • Hailey Steinman
Hailey a young student from Wyoming who recently took a school trip to the beaches at

Normandy and saw first-hand what our soldiers endured. Upon her return she entered

the Wyoming Branch 388 speaking contest and went on to the Ontario finals with her speech

the Value of Veterans. Congratulations Hailey you are very special young lady.

  • Bill Munro – Tyler Munro
Bill and Tyler harvested seeds and created seedlings and have transplanted over 100 trees

into our local parks and have created a spreadsheet for future reference. Bill says he has a

lot more and awaits further instruction from the Parks Board.

  • Donna Minielly
Donna Minielly has dedicated an outstanding number of years of service to the Plympton- Wyoming Agricultural Society. People like Donna make this Community great.
  • Tom O’Brien
In honour of his 50 years of service to Wyoming in the water and hydro departments. We

wish you well in your retirement after walking all of those miles reading meters, you deserve

it.

  • Gayle Phibbs and her dog Lexy
Gayle works tirelessly with Sarnia Lambton Therapy Dogs and with her dog Lexy brighten

the day of many residents who reside in homes in the area. Lexy is a charmer and has

many friends.

  • Omer Foisy
In recognition of being honoured by the Big Brothers for 45 years of service. Omer was

presented with this award at a Gala Event in Woodstock. He and his little brother remain

friends to this day.

  • Lambton County 4H
In appreciation of 100 years of service to the youth of the community and still going strong.

It takes a lot of volunteers to reach this milestone. Great job.

  • Kelsey Clark
A courageous young lady fought her battle with cancer and won. With a huge desire to help

others Kelsey repelled down the 300 foot London City Tower to raise funds for Make A Wish

Foundation. Such an inspirational strong person. You make your Town very proud.

  • Brian Helps
Brian spends countless hours in our ball parks grooming and doing whatever it takes to

make our parks pristine. His efforts were recognized by Mainstreet Credit Union and was

presented with a trip to a Yankee’s game along with a cheque for five thousand dollars for a

scoreboard. Keep up the great work Brian we all appreciate it very much.

  • Sawmill Creek Golf Resort and Spa - Paul Dumont, Margo Harrison, Carol Fritzley
For hosting the P.G.A. Canadian Women’s Senior Championship. This event brought

golfers and golf fans from across Canada and was highly successfully and brought many

accolades from the golfers and visitors. Just a tremendous effort. Congratulations to Paul,

Margo, Carol and all the members of the Sawmill and the volunteers. A great event well

done.
