A multi-sector council chaired by the County of Lambton and funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada admits it has no idea of exactly how many Syrian refugees are being sponsored locally.
Sarnia-Lambton Local Immigration Partnership Project Co-ordinator Stephanie Ferrera says they're urging church groups, private individuals, associations and those sponsoring refugees to contact them as soon as possible.
"Some of them will have high needs, others not so much and most will be well supported by their sponsors, however we would like to support the sponsors as well," says Ferrera.
She says the organization can establish a plan of action to mobilize services that the refugees and the sponsors will need. However, the organization first needs to know how many are coming and their date of arrival.
