Sarnia's Accessibility Co-ordinator, Dale Mosley along with Heather Allen from the County of Lambton presented the AODA Champion Award to Debbie Draganites.

A fence bylaw amendment passed during Sarnia council's meeting Monday, limiting the height of fences adjacent to street lines and driveways. Depending on the type of construction, fences could be limited to either 2.5 or 3.3 ft. in height to prevent safety concerns with visibility obstructions. Councillors were told regulations also apply to living fences (i.e. hedges) and would be regulated on a complaint basis.

The Sarnia and District Humane Society is the new day-to-day operator of the Seaway Kiwanis Children's Animal Farm. Mayor Mike Bradley was the only vote against the change in operation, stating the city wouldn't be saving any money. Nearly $158,000 in budget costs will be provided to the humane society, but the city remains responsible for general maintenance costs. The change in operation is effective January 1st for a five year period, with annual performance reviews and the option to terminate services.

Sarnia council approved a rezoning application for accessible parking, which increases the number of spots available for use. Councillors were told the number of parking spots available for people using canes, crutches or walkers (known as Type B parking), is currently below provincial standards.
