Shop Local On Black Friday

The Shop Local event is encouraging residents to shop in Sarnia on one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

For today's Black Friday festivities, Blackburn Radio will be visiting various businesses including Lambton Mall, Kitchen Widgets, Degroots Nurseries, and The Station Music Hall to name a few.

Representative Aaron Zimmer says they'll have done broadcasts from over 50 businesses by the end of today (Friday).

"All the businesses that we are at this week are all locally owned and operated," he says. "So when you're going and spending your money in those businesses, it's staying right here in this community. That's what we're trying to do, keep it as local as possible which helps the economy and as well keeps people employed."

Zimmer adds the high American dollar has helped push residents over the border to shop in Sarnia.

The Shop Local event began only a couple years ago and originally started on a smaller scale of just two days.
