Cycling Safety

The Lambton Safe Roads Committee is urging pedestrians and cyclists to make themselves visible to drivers, especially at night.

Committee Chair Kelley Elliott says retro-reflective gear is the best option since its 1,500 times brighter than white clothing.

She says bicycles must also be properly equipped with reflective strips and lights.

Cyclists without proper lighting could face a $110 fine.

Drivers are also urged to be alert and leave enough stopping distance, especially in slippery road conditions.
