October was the best month of the year so far for building permits in Sarnia.
60 permits were issued by city hall last month with a total construction value of just over $12.5-million. That's nearly $5-million higher than October 2014 with the year to date total almost $4-million ahead of last year's pace.
The numbers were fuelled by $2.3-million for a new pump house at Plains Midstream, $1.9-million for mechanical upgrades at Imperial Oil, and $1-million for new windows and doors at the courthouse.
Chief Building Official Alan Shaw says a cool spring coupled with a mild fall has helped boost the numbers later in the year.

Shaw says 17 permits for single family homes were issued in October, bringing the year to date total to 111. That's four behind last year's pace.
