City Council Meets Monday

Sarnia council considers changes to the bylaw governing churches, soup kitchens and food banks when it meets later today. (Mon)

Council's public session begins at 4pm.

It's recommended council approve changes to the by-law including new definitions, outlines for accessory and auxiliary uses, and parking requirements for the buildings.

An information technology review, to be referred to the 2016 budget process, looks for a budget increase of half-a-million dollars and the addition of five staff members.

Staff is looking for funding approval of $30,000 to complete a consultant review of three libraries, and $25,000 for the installation of an accessible washroom at the Sarnia Library.

A fence by-law review is to be brought forward for public consultation in November due to potential risks to public health and safety.

And the city's Property Insurance could be reduced from 300-to-200-million dollars, saving $66,000.
