Student Vote Results

Students across the country participating in the CIVIX Student Vote would have nominated Liberal Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister if they were old enough to vote in the election.

The national results showed Liberals would have 226 seats, as opposed to the election results of 184.

Law and Civics Teacher at Northern Collegiate, Roman Petruniak says participating students in Sarnia-Lambton would have elected NDP candidate Jason McMichael.

He says Northern Collegiate's results were in line with the local results.

Petruniak says classroom teaching before the election introduces students to the party platforms and political spectrum.

He hopes Student Vote will continue to engage students as it normalizes voting and encourages them to participate when they are of age.
