Landfill Expansion Underway

Clean Harbors has begun construction of a vertical expansion of its Telfer Rd. landfill near Brigden.

Company spokesman Michael Parker says they're digging a pond and preparing the site after receiving final provincial approval on Monday.

The $12-million to $15-million project will add up to five-million cubic metres (m) of new capacity.

Parker says they're taking steps to prevent off-site impact.

Up to 50 contractors will be on site during construction which is expected to wrap up in late February.
