Election Day Finally Here

Federal election day has finally arrived after a grueling 11-week campaign triggered by Stephen Harper during the Civic Holiday weekend in early August.

Harper is seeking to become the first Prime Minister to win four consecutive elections since Wilfred Laurier in 1908.

There are four candidates vying for the seat in Sarnia-Lambton. The riding has a remarkable bellwether record, having elected a member of the winning party nationally in every federal vote since 1963.

In 2015 there is no incumbent due to the retirement of Conservative Pat Davidson after three consecutive terms.

Marilyn Gladu is looking to keep the riding in the Tory fold with opposition from Liberal Dave McPhail, the NDP's Jason McMichael and Peter Smith of the Green Party.

In Lambton-Kent-Middlesex Riding, Conservative Bev Shipley, like his leader Harper, is seeking a fourth straight term. He faces challenges from Liberal Ken Filson, the NDP's Rex Isaac and Jim Johnston of the Green Party.

Polls are open here from 9:30am until 9:30pm.
