OPP Report Spike In Grandparent Scam

OPP is warning residents of an active phone scam making its rounds this month.

Western Region Sergeant Dave Rektor says the scam involves a call to a grandparent informing them one of their grandchildren are in trouble while travelling abroad and are in need of money.

He says people have unfortunately fallen victim to the scam, sending money by Western Union or MoneyGram before confirming the information.
