Creating Accessible Sidewalks

Sarnia sidewalks could be getting accessibility upgrades by the end of this year.

City staff have recommended council approve almost $218,781 for accessible sidewalks, curb ramps, and bus stop improvements.

Mayor Mike Bradley says accessibility wasn't a construction priority 20-30 years ago.

Also included is multiple bus stop improvements and the removal of out of date traffic islands throughout the city.

It's expected the project will be completed this year, but may be suspended until spring 2016 in the case of an early onset of winter.
