Local Woman Runs Bottle Drive To Raise Money

A Sarnia woman is appealing to the public to help her raise money to help fund surgery in the U.S. for her three-year-old niece who suffers from a rare genetic disease.

Sue Jacklin says both her niece and nephew suffer from E.D.S.

It's a genetic connective tissue disorder that leaves patients in constant pain because of joint instability.

Surgery has provided relief for her five-year-old nephew but the provincial government will not fund the surgery in the U.S.

She's launched a bottle drive out of her home at 872 Eastwood St. behind No Frills.

Jacklin says her family is already $66,000 in debt from her nephew's surgery in Rhode Island.

She also hopes businesses will set up donation boxes to help her out. She can be reached at 519-491-8014.
