Progress Made For Enhanced Train Schedule

We are inching closer to getting more Via Rail trains running in and out of Sarnia.

R.A.I.L (Rail Advocacy In Lambton), along with representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Partnership and Workforce development Board, met with VIA officials late last week.

RAIL Chair Jim Houston says they presented four possible schedules linking Sarnia to routes east and west.

Houston says VIA announced that it will begin improvements at the historic train station on Green St. this fall, replacing some of the deteriorating brick exterior and refurbishing part of the roof.

There is currently one train in and one train out of Sarnia daily.

VIA plans to increase service to four trains a day in and out of Sarnia next year.
