Lambton Gets $6.7M From Gas Tax Fund

Sarnia-Lambton's share of federal gas tax funding this year amounts to nearly $6.7-million.

Of that amount, the county of Lambton's take is $3.6-million while the city of Sarnia gets about $2.1-million.

MP Pat Davidson says it's the first installment of the annual $2-billion transfer to municipalities across the country.

County warden Bev MacDougall says yearly, predictable gas tax funding helps communities maintain roads, bridges and culverts.

Since the program began, the federal Gas Tax Fund has made $15-billion available for local infrastructure coast to coast.
