Odds Poor For Successful River City Appeal

Sarnia City Council could decide Monday whether to appeal the latest River City Vineyard court ruling to the Supreme Court of Canada. The city has until September 30 to seek leave to appeal the July 3 Ontario Court of Appeal decision that said the church's homeless shelter does not contravene the zoning bylaw. A third option put forth by staff is to table the decision to council's September 14 meeting and do more research. Mayor Mike Bradley wants the costly, divisive legal battle to end, saying the odds aren't good. City council's meeting Monday begins at 4pm.
