Significant damage reported after a brief but strong thunderstorm passed through the area around 2:30 Saturday afternoon. Heavy downpours and gusty winds knocked out power to thousands in Point Edward and Sarnia. Bluewater Power President and CEO Janice McMichael Dennis says at its peak the outage affected 10,000 customers. The utility says the storm brought down several trees and power lines, particularly in the city's southend. A heat warning remains in effect for Sarnia-Lambton and there's still a risk of more thunderstorms Sunday, until a front will pass through southern Ontario Sunday night bringing less humid conditions for Monday.
