The new $125-million BioAmber succinic acid plant on South Vidal St. will officially open August 6.
Over 20 MP's, MPP's, and executives from BioAmber, its venture partner Mitsui, Cargill and others will be on hand.
The 30,000 megaton facility will produce "building block" chemicals for export from Ontario corn - an example of the growing economic and environmental sustainability in the growing bio-industrial cluster in Southwestern Ontario.
It will be the world's largest such manufacturing facility and will use the equivalent of three million bushels of Ontario corn annually.
Succinic acid can be used to make a broad range of products including plastics, cosmetics and personal care products.
