June Real Estate Numbers Best In Ten Years

Sarnia-Lambton real estate sales in June were the best for that month in ten years.

Board President Jane Baker says the number of sales, at 196, was up seven per cent and the dollar volume was an unprecedented $44.5-million.

"Total sales dollar volume for the month is up 18 per cent, which is good," says Baker.

Halfway through the year, the total sales dollar volume is close to $200-million, six per cent ahead of last year's pace.

Baker is anticipating the usual summer slowdown. She says listings tend to get backed up over the vacation months.

"People are on holidays, they're spending time with the family and it picks up closer to the end of summer."

There are currently 892 active listings in the MLS system with 475 of those being single family homes.

Low interest rates continue to be a major factor driving the local market.
