Imperial is reporting a temporary release of light hydrocarbon material from its Sarnia refinery late Thursday morning. Spokesman Jon Harding says the release from a safety valve on an operating unit occurred at about 11:15am and lasted for about one minute. Harding says there were no reports of injuries and no need for the public to take action. Imperial was communicating with its nearest neighbours to determine if there was impact from the spray of material. The company notified the city and appropriate authorities of the incident.
